Our Positive Youth Development programs take a holistic approach, focusing on creating a developmentally appropriate transitional housing and career/job preparation setting for young people. We help young people and families meet their basic needs, including housing, food, safety, physical and mental health, and transportation where needed.

Destiny Changers Home focuses on at least three pillars for empowering the youth:

1. Addressing specific barriers young people face, e.g., Housing and Job preparedness.

2. Amplifying youth voice and agency.

3. And fostering youth potential to lead social and economic change.

Our focus on positive youth development strategies is geared towards forging positive relationships; strengthening academic, soft, and technical skills, cultivating trustworthy, safe spaces; and offering youth opportunities to succeed in meaningful ways. Another defining characteristic of the Positive Youth Development program is that those who are a part of the program are treated as equal partners and are encouraged to engage with their communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, and families in ways that are both constructive and productive.

YOUTH OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMS

We support and encourage young people advocating for themselves, so we ensure to promote policies that will help them succeed and play leadership roles in making their communities stronger and safer. Our goal is to help them make developmental milestones, graduate from high school and obtain postsecondary credentials that will position them for economic success. Having access to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities and customized tools that enable them to achieve financial stability and well-being. We work to ensure youth and young adults — especially those with welfare and justice system involvement — have permanent connections with caring family members and supportive relationships with adults in their community.
